Maria Magdalena Keverich was the mother of famous composer Ludwig van Beethoven. She was born in Ehrenbreitstein, Germany in 1746 and married Johann van Beethoven in 1767. Together, they had three children, with Ludwig being the eldest. Maria was a loving and caring mother who supported her son's musical talents and encouraged his education.
Unfortunately, Maria's husband Johann was an alcoholic and abusive towards his family, causing a lot of turmoil and hardship for Maria and her children. Despite these challenges, Maria remained a strong and resilient woman, doing her best to provide for her children and protect them from harm.
After her husband's death in 1792, Maria continued to support her son Ludwig financially and emotionally. She passed away in 1787, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to her family. Maria's influence on Beethoven's life and music is often underestimated but she played a vital role in shaping the man and the artist he became.
